Residents’ Associations within Nash Mills
Chambersbury Residents’ Association
In the mid 70’s Chambersbury Residents Association (CRA) was formed by the residents of 140 to 208 Chambersbury Lane to fight the proposed traffic access, in and out of the planned North End Estate. Although the access was built this did not deter the residents and CRA grew and now formally covers the houses from 111 – 210 inclusive.
From the early days of just “residential issues” the CRA now has a thriving “social scene”; organising quizzes, walks, charity events, outings to theatre, greyhound racing, ten pin bowling, plus a whole host of other activities for its members and their friends and family.
More information available from Richard Ball, Chairman. The link to CRA is rjcn.ball@hotmail.co.uk.
Willlows Residents’ Association (WRA)
The Willows Residents Association (WRA) was formed in 2011 with the aim to improve the local area for our residents and the wider community. Our goal is to help keep our neighbourhood, a beautiful, friendly, clean and safe place to live. Over the past 10 years the WRA has become a central contact point for all residents living across the estate, to share ideas for improvement and raise issues of concern or problems.
Our committee members are voted in each year at the AGM and are well known across the estate and visible at organised events. The WRA has also formed close working relationships with our local councillors, wardens, and neighbourhood watch staff. We also have a working relationship with Canal and River Trust and help monitor any issues with the canal bank that runs alongside the estate. Matters of concern on the estate are raised at NMPC meetings by committee members on behalf of residents.
On the social side, the WRA regularly co-ordinates ‘Estate Tidy Up’s’ and Bulb planting days, Pub quizzes in local venues and Wine tasting evenings. Popular children’s events include our spooky stall on the Green each Halloween and Easter Egg hunts for families. We have also organised Beer tasting events and a Canal Riverboat trip. Our summer highlight is our annual ‘Party on the Green’ which has attracted between 150 -200 people.
By organising these events the WRA has contributed to establishing a great community spirit in this area. This is a place where neighbours know their neighbours and actively look out for and support each other.
